As a wedding florist, I frequently have brides that request silk ribbon streamer detailing on their bouquets, and often for their bridesmaids bouquets too! After teaching my most recent workshop, I realized that everyone has a different technique on using silk ribbon streamers, so I thought I would share 10 of my best tips and tricks!

Marisa and Kevin had an absolutely beautiful October wedding day at Ashton Creek Vineyard, near Richmond, Virginia! Ashton Creek is one of my absolute favorite winery wedding venues in the Richmond area- in the fall, the outdoor space was full of rows of romantic vines, which made for the most romantic ceremony backdrop and picture spots! Marisa and Kevin envisioned a romantic, woodland wonderland, with shades of burgundy, dusty rose and white, paired with woodsy greenery, including a variety of ferns, moss, and airy greens- I LOVED all their ideas! To bring their vision to life, we used lots of fall dahlias, ranunculus, garden roses, hydrangea, and more- it was so much fun to work with color!! The bouquets were tied off our fall-inspired Crimson silk ribbon

Brittany and Jason had an absolutely beautiful August wedding day at Early Mountain Vineyards, near Charlottesville, Virginia! Early Mountain is one of my absolute favorite wedding venues in the Charlottesville area- in the summertime, the outdoor ceremony space is full of white blooming hydrangea bushes, and the neutral indoor space always looks so beautiful accented with natural greenery and an abundance of candlelight. Brittany and Jason envisioned a vibrant, fall-inspired wedding color palette, with shades of burgundy, golden bronze and burnt apricot, paired with greenery, including eucalyptus and my summer favorite- hops!! To bring their vision to life, we used lots of garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias, deep red anemones, and more- it was so much fun to work with color!!

am SO excited to share a recap of the January Business and Floral Design workshop! We welcomed the workshop attendees into our home and studio for an entire day full of learning, laughter and the beginning of new friendships, and we all had an amazing time together! The attendees came in Virginia and Pennsylvania, and it was so fun being together and getting to know everyone!

We started off the day with coffee/tea and breakfast and then dove straight into the content…

Yasmin and Matt had a lovely August wedding day at the Salamander Resort, in Middleburg, Virginia! The Salamander is the most gorgeous venue, right in the middle of Virginia’s horse country, surrounded by gentle, rolling hills. Yasmin and Matt envisioned a neutral and classic wedding color palette, with shades of white and ivory, with greenery, and it accented the venue perfectly! To bring their vision to life, we used lots of garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias, lisianthus and more- everything smelled SO good!! We tied off the bouquets in our creamy Playa Blanca silk ribbon, and it was the perfect compliment to the BHDLN bridesmaid dresses, and Yasmin’s stunning wedding dress!! Their ceremony arch was filled with blooms and draped with fabric at the top, to mimic a chuppah, with the sofreh created by Yasmin’s mom in front, was one of my favorite parts of the day, and a special way to honor both of their heritages and families! Also, it was so fun seeing both Y & M’s adorable doggies dressed up in floral collars- so cute 🙂 Their wedding day was photographed by Anna Kardos Photography, who did such a wonderful job, and we enjoyed working with the Blush Events team and the staff at the Salamander Resort! These two are just the sweetest couple, and it was such a joy and honor to be a part of their wedding day! Scroll to the end of this post for a list of all the vendors who brought Yasmin and Matt’s wedding day to life- and enjoy! 🙂

Last year, I was honored to be interviewed over on the Team Flower podcast, talking about one of my favorite business topics- marketing yourself as a floral designer! I share all about my beginnings in the business, as well as how my background in teaching gave me some transferrable skills that I still utilize today! I join Kelly, the host of the podcast and the leader of Team Flower, to discuss some of the biggest fears and obstacles of starting a wedding floral design business, and I share some applicable tips on how to combat these fears. We also chat about trying to alleviate stress within our lives with flowers and to set yourself up for success, both on the business front and the personal side! We talked about how to market yourself when you are just beginning a floral design business, as well as how I grew my business.

Tune in here!
